conference in Dresden.

CoreGRID Workshop on Grid Middleware, June 25-June 26

We focus on the following major Grid related topics: knowledge and data management, resource management and scheduling, information, resource and workflow monitoring services. The workshop is organized by CoreGRID, European research network on software infrastructures and applications for large-scale, distributed Grid and peer-to-peer technologies. The consortium associates 42 key players mainly from Europe: universities and R&D centres.

Intel/Gelato Multi-Core Seminar, June 26, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Hosted by Intel and the Gelato Federation (www.gelato.org), the global technical community for Linux on Itanium architecture, this free 4 hour seminar will cover essential concepts for programming on multi-core platforms.
The seminar is architecture neutral. Following the seminar, Intel architecture-specific demonstrations will be available.
Content will include:
- An introduction to parallel programming concepts, advantages, and pitfalls.
- OpenMP, a simple and flexible interface for developing shared-memory parallel applications.
- Using Intel Thread Checker to speed up your development process by detecting non-protected shared memory access, even when no actual race conditions occur.
- Using Intel Thread Profiler to understand the overall performance of your application and identify which part of your code should be parallelized.
- How to reduce the impact of thread creation overhead, locking, and barriers.
- An introduction to Intel® Threading Building Blocks (Intel® TBB) 1.1 to eliminate tedious threading implementation work.
- How to quickly employ commonly needed algorithms designed for parallel performance and scalability.

8:00-9:45 a.m., in the Dresden Conference Center.
