Bill Kramer
NERSC Division Deputy and NERSC Center General Manager, NERSC, USA

Bill Kramer is General Manager of the DOE's National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) and Head of High Performance Computing at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Prior to his Berkeley Lab appointment, was a Branch Chief at NASA Ames Research Center, responsible for all aspects of system and customer support for NASA's principal supercomputer center - the NAS. While at Ames, he put the world's first Unix Supercomputer into production - the NAS Cray-2. He holds a BS and an MS in computer science from Purdue University and an ME in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware, and this presentation is about part of his PhD work at UC Berkeley. Bill was General Chair of the recent SC|05 conference in Seattle, where got his 20 minutes of fame sharing the stage with Bill Gates.
