ISC2005 -- THE PLACE TO BE IN HPC
ISC2005 Reaches Registration Record - 650 Participants
While early registrations pointed to record particpation, organizers of ISC2005 were pleasantly surprised when registration reached 500,
then soon surpassed 600. Ultimately, more than 650 particpants registered for this year's conference. Conference Chairman Prof. Hans Meuer
noted that more people checked in the day before ISC2005 opened than attended the first meeting back in 1986.
"As I spoke with attendees this year, I have the impression that people are not only engaged in this year's program, but they are also
already looking forward to meeting next year in Dresden." Information about ISC2006 can be accessed at http://www.supercomp.de/.
When ISC began the meeting series in Mannheim, it had 80 participants and one would never have dreamed it would achieve the
size and scope of the conference we see today.
It is especially gratifying that as ISC celebrates its 20th anniversary, it will have a record number of
participants from around the world to help mark the occasion.

Reflections on ISC at its 20th Anniversary
"My first experience with ISC was back in 1987, I think this was the second year of the event. Hans Meuer had asked me to participate by giving a talk on Performance Considerations and the Linpack Benchmark. In addition, Sid Fernbach and I presented a 1-day tutorial on high performance computing. I remember that being an exciting time for high-performance computing as it is today. The ISC conference has, since its beginning, been a venue for a stimulating program with the leading experts in the HPC area."
Dr. Jack Dongarra, Distinguished Professor, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN

ISC2005: WHERE THE HPC WORLD MEETS
20th International Supercomputer Conference
The International Supercomputer Conference, the leading
supercomputing event in Europe, will celebrate its 20th
year in 2005 as a premier venue for gaining an international
perspective in the field of HPC. Combining a
strong lineup of technical experts with exhibits from
leading supercomputing centers, as well as hardware
and software vendors, ISC presents state-of-the-art
applications, architectures and trends in super-computing.
As a result, this HPC event has created a unique atmosphere
of collaboration and cooperation.
The annual conference has been held in fascinating Heidelberg
with the world-famous castle and picturesque Old Town,
with one of the oldest universities and modern research
facilities. The splendid Heidelberg Convention Center is
the perfect setting for this event.
The conference program (conducted in English) includes a one-day tutorial, followed by a three-day conference and paralleled by a huge HPC exhibition throughout.
