Prof. Dr. Kun Zhou

Cheung Kong Distinguished Professor of Computer Science, Zhejiang University, China

Kun Zhou is currently a Cheung Kong Distinguished Professor in the computer science department of Zhejiang University, and a member of the State Key Laboratory of CAD&CG. He received his BS degree and PhD degree from Zhejiang University in 1997 and 2002, respectively. After graduation, he joined Microsoft Research Asia as an Associate Researcher, and was a Lead Researcher of the Internet Graphics Group before moving to Zhejiang University.

His research interests include digital geometry processing, real-time computer graphics and GPU parallel computing. These lines of research have led to a number of publications and technology transfers. He received credit for his light map generation and compression work on Halo 3. He is also the main inventor of DirectX’s UVAtlas and the BSGP language.

He has served as a program committee member for leading graphics conferences, including ACM SIGGRAPH, ACM SIGGRAPH Asia, Eurographics Symposium on Rendering, Eurographics Symposium on Geometry Processing, and Pacific Graphics.
